About me

Cristiano L. Dias is a post-doctoral fellow in the department of applied mathematics at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). He is working in the group of Mikko Karttunen.

Cristiano uses large scale computers to unravel misteries in biological systems using models borrowed from physics. Among his interests are solvation of non-polar solutes, protein folding and simple models of rupture. These problems are analysed in the context of thermally activated phenomena and statistical mechanics. If you want to know more about his research, follow the research or papers tab on the top of this page.

Being a scientist is a full time job, but Cristiano also finds some time to travel, play capoeira (not very often lately) and foul around with friends.
